Ralph & Shirley Hagemeier

When Ralph and Shirley Hagemeier first applied to
become missionaries to Africa, in 1966, they felt it was
God's call on their lives. Now, more than four decades
later their conviction to continue working in their adopted
land remains as strong as ever.

The Hagemeier's were in Tanzania, East Africa, for 15
years, working with various ministries including a Bible
School to help train new pastors. After coming home to
the states, with their two daughters in college, they began
to feel a new call to start a Bible School in Zaire. Ralph
and Shirley bought 98 acres of land and built a compound
that includes a Bible School, kindergarten, elementary
and high school, there is a dispensary, and orphan
children are weighed and given food supplies each week.
They help to provide work, medical assistance, food and
clothing to many of the country's poorest residents. It is a
lifestyle very different than most of us would consider
embracing willingly. Even though Ralph and Shirley are at
an age where most people are considering retirement,
they have no plans to give up their ministry.

Pastor Garza
Iglesia Centro Christiano
History of Iglesia Centro Cristiano
The church was founded on a Tuesday of July 11, 1989 in our own home with just a few families.
After that Tuesday we started to meet every Tuesday and Saturday for the first few years at The
Gulf Coast Christian Center of West Columbia, Texas with the direction of our General Pastors B.B.
and Velma Hankins. But before the ministry became initiative God had already spoken to the hearts
of Pastor Richard and Dilia Garza to go and talk to Pastor B.B. Hankins about starting a ministry for
the Hispanic Community in West Columbia, Tx. When they went to speak to Pastor B.B Hankins, he
already knew that God had called us to the ministry, but he was waiting for us to go and talk to him.
That is how the Hispanic Ministry got introduced in West Columbia, Texas.
Years before there was a Hispanic Ministry in the English Church Pastora Dilia was saved here .The
ministry didn’t last too long, because the Pastors Ruben Flores and his wife started a church in Port
Lavaca Tx.
Pastora Dilia continued to go to the English Church, because of her speaking two languages and
being bilingual and then soon after 2-3 years Pastor Richard received Jesus Christ in his heart, and
started serving in the English Church as Pastor of the bus ministry for 5-6 years before he was
called to the ministry and that is the beginning of the history of Iglesia Centro Cristiano. Lots of well
known people from the English Church were a blessing to serve with us as brothers and sisters in
Christ. Edward and Irma Pingenot, Esmeralda Flores were the beginning of our congregation for the
first 5-6 years and then after there was lots more people that helped us such as brother Sonny
Daniels, Houston and Anita Langner, Phylis and Ken Walker also brother Rafael Zavala which is the
director of music which has been with us for 18 years, and lots of our dear friends that are still
serving in the ministry. We thank everyone who is with us. The people that serve in the church as
Pastors are: Assistant Pastors Jason and Beverly Ellison, Pastora Amanda Salinas and Youth
Pastors Juan and Nadia Rosas. All teachers, ushers and all the members that God has given us all
through the 20 years of ministry. It‘s incredible of what God has done in this church It hasn’t been
easy, but we know that God has put us here, even though we were not people serving God, but now
we can be called the city for God. We as Pastors of this church can truly say that this was birth by
the Holy Spirit. We never could have imagined of what God has and is still doing in this place. Glory
is to God for his mercy in our lives. Through everything that God has done in our church years this
is how it all started here at Iglesia Centro Cristiano 20 years ago since July 20, 1989.
We love this Ministry and know they are serving God and seeing many come to Christ.

growth from the once humble beginnings. Dilia
